The design we present has the following specifications:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>centered at 1550 nm,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>passband width of 6.0 nm at the -0.5 dB (about 89%) transmission level,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>bandwidth of 6.8 nm at the -25 dB (about 0.3%) transmission level,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>0.1% ripple in the passband<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>materials H (index 2.065) and L (index 1.47)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>TFCalc 3.5 has the capability of designing narrow bandpass (NPB) filters using the prototype method. To obtain the steep edges required in this design, we used 13 cavities. After a few minutes, TFCalc produced a design whose performance is shown below.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"454\" height=\"311\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hulinks.co.jp\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/software\/tfcalc\/tf_8skip0_1.gif\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-357\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The design\u2019s width at the -25 dB level is 6.7 nm, which is better than required.
