Optical Data from Sopra SA

The Sopra S.A. company in France made its optical database available. All the data files, except Sopra’s special alloy format, were converted to the TFCalc format by Software Spectra, Original developer of TFCalc. This data is offered at no cost.

The only drawback to the Sopra data is that, for most of the materials, there is no indication of the origin of the sample which was measured. Ideally you would want to know how the sample was prepared and measured.

To download the TFCalc-format files, choose either Macintosh (1024K) or Windows (728K). In either case, the file is a self-extracting application — you run it and it will ask you where the files should be stored. A “Read Me” file describes all the material files.
